This tutorial was written by Laura Emch on April 10, 2007. You may link to it through your groups and print it out for future use, but nothing, including my ideas, are to be removed from this site. I used the amazing work of Jennifer Janesko. You must purchase a license to use her work; please visit CILM to do so. You will need the following supplies: Tube of your choice Fonts – Water Lily (minimize to your task bar after opening) and a script font of your choice Eye Candy Impact and Eye Candy 4000 Bow and small diamond: SUPPLIES 1. Open a new transparent canvas, 700x600. Flood fill with white to give you a better idea of what you’re working with. 2. Copy and paste your tube as a new layer, being sure that “resize all layers” is unchecked. 3. Grab your text tool, with a stroke color of white and line width 2; background color one of your choice that complements your tube. I used a pattern. 4. Scroll for the font Water Lily and type in the first letter of your name. Be sure that both vector and anitalias are checked. Use the nodes around the letter to stretch it to your liking. Layers/convert to raster layer when you are satisfied with its size. 5. Selections/select all; selections/float; selections/ modify/contract by 2. Selections/promote to layer. 6. Go to effects/plugins/Eye candy impact/chrome and look for “Rippled Edge” under settings. Hit ok. Deselect. Change the blend mode of the promoted chrome effect to multiply or one of your choice that goes well with the color/pattern you used for the text. 7. Hide your tube and white background; layers/merge visible the two layers of your letter. 8. Add the last letter of your name on the other side of your tube in the same manner, and repeat steps 4-7, including merging. 9. Choose a nice script font for the middle part of your name and repeat the above steps. 10. Add the following drop shadow to all of your text layers:
***At this point, be sure that you have your letters and tube in their final positions!*** 11. Duplicate your main tube layer twice. Drop the bottom two duplicates beneath your two large letters of your name. Effects/plugins/Eye Candy 4000/Shadowlab with the following settings:
12. On the middle duplicate tube above it, go to effects/plugins/ Loka’s 3d shadow with the following settings:
13. Make the top copy of your tube the active layer; it should still be above all of your text. Grab your eraser tool:
Erase parts of the tube so that the fancy parts of the Waterlily font appears to be intertwined; you may need to zoom in. The parts you need to erase will depend on the tube you used. 14. Copy and paste the ribbon provided, or one of your choice, as a new layer and resize as needed; you may need to colorize it (colors/colorize). Duplicate; image/mirror. Place them to your liking. 15. Copy and paste the small diamond as a new layer and place in the middle of the ribbon. Duplicate; image/mirror. 16. Add any other doodads or embellishments that fit your tag. Be creative! I added two diamond lines at the bottom of the tag and some spiders. 17. Add the appropriate copyright information and your watermark so that you both receive credit for your work. Crop your image, save, and you’re finished! I hope that you have enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Thanks for stopping by!
