This tutorial was written by Laura Emch on February 9, 2008. You may link to it through your groups and print it out for future use, but nothing, including my ideas, are to be removed from this site. I used the amazing artwork of Jennifer Janesko. You must purchase a license to use it; please visit CILM to do so.

You will need the following supplies:
Three tubes/images of your choice
Xero Improver (optional)
Cybia Screenworks
Various scrap supplies by Anita of Nana’s Attic; used with permission as a paying member
*Feel free to use your own papers and embellishments!*

SUPPLIES

1. Open a new transparent image, 700 x 600. Flood fill with white to give you a better idea of what you’re working with.

2. Activate your preset shape tool set on rectangle. Have your stroke set on null, background on white or black. (If you choose white as your “frame,” you will want to hide the white background on your palette.)

3. Draw a small square, holding down the shift key. Layers/convert to raster layer.

4. Duplicate the square twice by right clicking on your layer palette. Place them vertically; see finished tag as a size and placement reference.

5. Open your three images/tubes. Apply the filter Zero Improver to each of them if you wish. Copy the one you plan to use first (control C).

6. Back on your main palette, click inside the top square with your magic wand set on 0 tolerance and feather. Selections/modify/contract by 4.

7. Paste your image as a new layer and place it in the middle of your selection. Resize as needed to get the part of the image you want centered in the square. Selections/invert and hit delete on your keyboard to get rid of the excess. Deselect.

8. Repeat the above steps for your remaining two squares. Give all three squares the following drop shadow:

9. Be sure that you have your squares placed as you would like them. Hide your white background and merge visible. Then unhide it.

10. Open the two scrap papers you plan to use and resize them if needed. Copy one.

11. Click on your white bg. Grab your selection tool set on CIRCLE. Put your mouse somewhere in the middle of your canvas and draw your selection. If you’re not happy with the size, simply hit “control z” on your keyboard to undo it and try again.

12. Layers/new raster layer and name it if you like to keep track of what’s what. J Paste one of your scraps into the selection.

13. Layers/new raster layer. Copy and paste your second scrap paper of choice into the selection. (You may wish to save your selection to an alpha channel so you can use it again, if you decide to use different papers later on.) Deselect.

14. Move the circles to your liking. See finished tag for reference.

15. Duplicate each circle by right clicking on your layer palette. On the BOTTOM layer of each, go to Effects/blur/Gaussian Blur with a radius of 20. Effects/plugins/Cybia Screen works and use the settings called Multi-Line.

16. Give the top circle layers the same drop shadow as above.

17. Copy and paste one of the doodles provided as a new layer, or use your own, and resize as needed. Repeat the above drop shadow.

18. Add your text in a color and font of your choice. I used Dartangnonl. Convert to a raster layer and give it a slight drop shadow.

Add the appropriate copyright information and your watermark so you both receive credit for your work. Crop your image, save as a png, and you’re finished! I hope that you have enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Thanks for stopping by!
