This tutorial was written by me on January 21, 2006. You may link to it through your groups and print it out for future use, but nothing, including my ideas, are to be removed from this site. This tutorial assumes that you have a reasonable knowledge of PSP and working with layers. I used the awesome work of Sad Angel. Please support this talented artist by visiting her site. You will need the following supplies: Pictures of your choice Kels Frame 10 (visit her site for more excellent frames!) Texture by David (visit his site if you would like to use another one, or use one of your own) 1. Open a new transparent image, 600x500. Flood fill with white to give you a better idea of what you’re working with. We are going to work on your pictures first. 2. Hit “shift D” on your keyboard to make duplicates of all of your jpegs. Promote background to layer. Crop the parts that you would like to use. Have one of your images remain larger than the rest. (See finished tag for reference.) 3. Effects/xero/improver with the default settings. 4. Duplicate your layer twice. On the middle layer, go to Effects/Filters Unlimited/Lens Flare and choose one to your liking; I used the first one and checked off flip horizontal so the flare appears in the upper right corner; it depends on your image.
5. On the top layer, go to effects/penta/dot and cross with the default settings. Change the blend mode of this layer to soft light on your layer palette. 6. Hit “control A” to select all. Layers new raster layer. Copy your texture and paste into the selection. You may wish to colorize the texture first depending on the images you chose. (Colors/colorize.) 7. Change the blend mode of this layer to soft light and deselect. Layers/merge visible. 8. Masks/new from image and scroll for your torn edge mask.
9. Masks/delete and answer yes to the warning box that pops up. Copy your image and paste as a new layer onto your large canvas. 10. Repeat the above steps on all of your images except for the larger one that you would like to be the main focus of the tag. I used four of them. 11. On your last, larger image, go to Image/picture frame and find Kels frame 10. Hit ok through all of the steps and then layers/merge visible. Copy and paste as a new layer with the rest of your images. Give your frame layer the following drop shadow:
12. Change all of the smaller pictures’ blend mode to hard light on your layer palette. Resize them as needed, being sure that “resize all layers” is unchecked. Use your deformation tool to rotate them to your liking. Give them the following drop shadow:
13. Hide your white background and layers/merge visible. Copy your image and then hit Edit/undo so that your tag is still in layers. Paste your merged layer as a new image. (control V). Go to Effects/mura’s meister copies and use the following settings:
14. Image/picture frame and use the same frame. Layers/merge visible. Make a copy of this and paste it back onto your large canvas. Give it the same drop shadow as in step .The rest of this tutorial is a matter of personal taste. I chose to hide the large center image and left some of the smaller ones out; do whatever looks good to you! 15. Add your text in a font of your choice. I used Water Brush ROB. Add the appropriate copyright information and your watermark so that you both receive credit for your work. Crop your image, save as a jpeg and you’re finished! I hope that you have enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions feel free to email me or leave me a note on the forum. Thanks for stopping by! ©2004 Shawn Emch, Laura Glasgow.
