This tutorial was written by Laura Emch on March 15, 2008. You may link to it through your groups and print it out for future use, but nothing, including my ideas, are to be removed from this site. I used the amazing artwork of Charlene Lois. You must purchase a license in order to use it; please visit My PSP Tubes to do so.
You will need the following supplies:
Tube and font of your choice
Simple filter
Ring PSP shape; Mask by Caz G; chain tube by Christy
Scrap papers and elements of your choice – I used pieces from Nana's Attic “Wild Daisies” kit, but any scrap kit is suitable for this tutorial (Anita offers a freebie add on to this kit that includes some papers )
1. Open a new transparent canvas, 700x600. Flood fill with white to give you a better idea of what you’re working with.
2. Open up your tube, mask, and the scrap papers that you plan to use. Go ahead and resize them if you need to; I generally resize large papers by 15 percent.
3. Copy and paste your main tube as a new layer. Resize as needed, being sure that “resize all layers” is unchecked. Give it a drop shadow; I used Loka’s 3d shadow but any will do!
4. Grab your preset shape tool set on Ring, with a line width of 5; foreground white or one from your tube and background null. Draw an oval shape to your liking. Objects/align center in canvas. Layers/convert to raster layer.
5. Use your magic wand to click in the outside of the ring. Selections/modify/ expand by 4.
6. Copy and paste one of your papers as a new layer; I used one with a striped pattern. Selections/invert and hit delete on your keyboard to get rid of the excess. Keep selected. Drop this layer beneath the white ring outline on your layer palette.
7. Copy and paste another paper as a new layer in the same selection. Hit delete; Selections/invert again so that the paper itself is selected again.
8. Keeping the second paper active, go to Effects/plugins/Simple/ Zoom out and Flip. Deselect. Give the paper with the Simple effect the following drop shadow:

9. Now use your magic wand to click on the inner part of your ring. Selections/modify expand by 4. Copy and paste another of your papers, or a color to complement your tube on a new layer, and drop beneath the white shape outline.
10. Selections/invert and hit delete on your keyboard to get rid of the excess.
11. Copy and paste whatever element you want to go in the middle of your ring; I used a doodle, resized by 50 percent or so, and changed the blend mode to luminance. Glitter or bows also work well; be creative! Hit delete again and then deselect. Give it a slight drop shadow.
*You may want to save this selection to an alpha channel in case you need to use it again.*
12. Give your ring outline the following drop shadow:

13. Make the white background layer your active layer. Copy and paste one of your papers as a new layer so that it fits the entire canvas; or, Layers/new raster layer and flood fill with a complementary color.
14. Masks/new from image and scroll for Caz Mask 58 with invert mask data checked:

15. Masks/delete and answer yes to the warning box that pops up. Resize by 80 percent or so.
16. Copy and paste a darker color paper as a new layer to fit the entire canvas, or layers/new raster layer and flood fill with a different color.
17. Repeat the steps for the mask above, but this time use the Creative Desires mask with “invert mask data” UNchecked. Masks/delete and resize as needed.
18. Copy and paste the silver chain as a new layer and resize to your liking. To make it darker as in the above tag, so to Colors/colorize and type in 0 and 0 for hue and saturation. Then, go to Colors/adjust/ brightness and contrast and type in -100 for brightness and 0 for contrast.
19. Give the chain a slight drop shadow. Use your lasso tool set on point to point to erase a tiny bit of it so that it appears to be hanging from your white outline. Image/duplicate; image/mirror.
20. Add any elements to your tag to further decorate it to your liking and give them a slight drop shadow.
21. Add your text in a font of your choice. I used aetherize and gave it a slight drop shadow.
22. Add the appropriate copyright information and your watermark so that you both receive credit for your work. Crop your image, save as a png, and you’re finished!
I hope that you have enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. Thanks for stopping by!
