This tutorial was written by Laura Emch on July 1, 2007. You may link to it through your groups and print it out for future use, but nothing, including my ideas, are to be removed from this site. I used the amazing work of Oren Kramek. You must purchase a license to use it; please visit MYPSPTUBES to do so.
You will need the following supplies:
Tube and font of your choice
Eye Candy Nature and Eye Candy 4000
Heart Preset Shapes – if you made these and would like credit for them, please let me know! (Open in PSP and export to your shapes.)
1. Open a new transparent canvas, 700x600. Flood fill with white to give you a better idea of what you’re working with.
2. Copy and paste your tube as a new layer. Resize as needed, being sure that “resize all layers” is unchecked.
3. Grab your preset shape tool and find one of the hearts provided; I used Heart 8. Have your line width on 5; foreground black; background null. Draw a large heart behind your tube and convert to a raster layer when you’re satisfied with its shape. Position it near the top of your canvas (see finished image for reference).
4. DUPLICATE your outline and keep the original at the bottom of your layer palette until later on in the tutorial.
5. Click inside of the top copy of your shape with your magic wand set on 0 tolerance and feather. Selections/modify/expand by 3. Layers/new raster layer and drop beneath the outline of your shape.
6. Flood fill the selection with a gradient that matches your tube; I used foreground/background in black and red with angle at 0 and repeats at 10.
7. Layers/new raster layer and flood fill with a solid color from your tube. Keep selected.
8. On your gradient flood fill layer, go to effects/plugins/Eye Candy Nature. Find the settings tab and choose “small, burning charcoal.”
9. Change the blend mode of the solid color to soft light on your layer palette. You may wish to play with the different blend modes to find one that best suits the colors/fire of your tag. Deselect.
10. On the outline of your shape, go to effects/plugins/Eye Candy 4000/ Gradient Glow with the following settings:

On the color tab, set your gliders on black and white:

11. Give it a drop shadow:

12. Return to your original outline on the bottom of your layer palette (it should be just a “plain” black shape). Effects/plugins/Eye Candy Nature/ Smoke. Under the settings tab, choose “SMALL; Steaming Coffee.”
On the basic tab, change to the following settings, noting that “mask selection” is checked:

13. Give your tube a drop shadow or gradient glow; I did both.
14. Add your text in a font of your choice. I used Insomnia, foreground white and background a suitable gradient. Convert to raster layer and give it a drop shadow. I also added the words “The devil made me do it” in 2Peas Cookie Dough.
15. Add the appropriate copyright information and your watermark so that you both receive credit for your work!
Crop your image, save as a png, and you’re finished! I hope that you have enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Thanks for stopping by!
